How to Set Up Google Tag Manager (GTM) (SST Free Plugin)

This guide explains how to set up and connect Google Tag Manager Web and Server containers using the Server Side GTM Tracking Plugin for WooCommerce.

Before starting, make sure your GTM Web Container and GTM Server Container are available.
If you don’t have them yet, you can create both directly from the plugin during setup.

Configure Google Tag Manager

Step 1: Open GTM Settings

  1. Log in to WordPress Admin
  2. Go to Conversios SST → Pixels & Analytics
  3. Open Google Tag Manager – Server Side

Step 2: Sign In With Google

  1. Click Sign in with Google and Choose the Google account with GTM access
  2. Approve permissions

Your account status will show as Successfully signed in.

Step 3: Configure Web Container

In Web Container ID:

  • Select Existing: Choose your GTM Web container from the list
  • Create New: Create a new Web container directly from the plugin

The plugin automatically adds the required tags and templates and connects the container.

Step 4: Configure Server Container

In Server Container ID:

  • Select Existing: Choose an existing GTM Server container
  • Create New: Create a new Server container from the plugin

The Server container will be connected automatically.

Step 5: Server Set-up

  2. Choose the server region
  3. Paste the Server Container Configuration
  4. Click Import server details and Click Save

This completes the GTM connection.

  2. Visit your store and perform test actions:
    • Product view
    • Add to cart
    • Checkout / purchase
  3. Confirm events like view_item, add_to_cart, and purchase are firing
