How to Set Up Google Tag Manager (GTM) (SST Free Plugin)
This guide explains how to set up and connect Google Tag Manager Web and Server containers using the Server Side GTM Tracking Plugin for WooCommerce.
Before starting, make sure your GTM Web Container and GTM Server Container are available.
If you don’t have them yet, you can create both directly from the plugin during setup.
Configure Google Tag Manager
Step 1: Open GTM Settings
- Log in to WordPress Admin
- Go to Conversios SST → Pixels & Analytics
- Open Google Tag Manager – Server Side
Step 2: Sign In With Google
- Click Sign in with Google and Choose the Google account with GTM access
- Approve permissions
Your account status will show as Successfully signed in.
Step 3: Configure Web Container
In Web Container ID:
- Select Existing: Choose your GTM Web container from the list
- Create New: Create a new Web container directly from the plugin
The plugin automatically adds the required tags and templates and connects the container.
Step 4: Configure Server Container
In Server Container ID:
- Select Existing: Choose an existing GTM Server container
- Create New: Create a new Server container from the plugin
The Server container will be connected automatically.
Step 5: Server Set-up
- Select New Conversios (GCP-Powered Server Hosting)
- Choose the server region
- Paste the Server Container Configuration
- Click Import server details and Click Save

This completes the GTM connection.
Verify the Setup
- Open GTM Preview mode
- Visit your store and perform test actions:
- Product view
- Add to cart
- Checkout / purchase
- Confirm events like view_item, add_to_cart, and purchase are firing
If events appear, the setup is complete.
