CAPI helps reduce missed conversions caused by browser restrictions and ad blockers by sending events directly from the server.

Supported Shopify Events

Conversios tracks the complete Shopify customer journey using GA4 ecommerce and engagement events, helping you understand how visitors browse, interact, and convert on your store.

Store and Product Browsing

  • page_view – When a visitor views any page on your store
  • view_item_list – When a collection page or product list is viewed
  • select_item – When a visitor clicks on a product from a list or collection
  • view_item – When a product detail page is opened

Cart Actions

These events track how shoppers interact with the cart before checkout.

  • add_to_cart – A product is added to the cart
  • remove_from_cart – A product is removed from the cart
  • view_cart – The cart page or cart drawer is viewed

Checkout Steps

These events help identify where customers move forward or drop off during checkout.

  • begin_checkout – Checkout process is started
  • add_shipping_info – Shipping method is selected
  • add_payment_info – Payment method is selected

Purchase

This event confirms successful conversions and revenue.

  • purchase – Order is completed and confirmed on the Shopify Thank You page

Important Note 

Purchase tracking works only when customers land on the Shopify Thank You page after payment.

If a payment gateway does not redirect back to this page, the purchase cannot be tracked.
Most gateways provide a return or redirect option – make sure it is enabled.

However, your payment gateway does not redirect customers to the Shopify Thank You page, which is why purchase tracking is not working. Please contact our support team at [email protected]

Other Engagement Events

These events measure user interaction beyond shopping behavior.

  • scroll – User scrolls through a page
  • form_submit – Any form submission (contact, lead, etc.)
  • signup – User creates an account or subscribes
  • login – User logs into an account
  • email_click – Click on an email address link
